Perimenopause
Changing.
Who's currently feeling like their cycle is changing ?
Are they heavier than they used to be? lighter? No longer monthly? 40-44 years old?
Perimenopause?
I know same, totally dreading it.
Perimenopause is our bodies natural process when the ovaries stop working. Ovulation may become erratic then stop. Our menstrual cycles can lengthen and flow can become irregular.
We also get to experience some pretty cool changes ( I'm joking)
Mood changes.
Changes in sexual desire.
Trouble concentrating.
Headaches.
Night sweats.
Hot flashes.
Vaginal dryness.
Trouble with sleep.
Okay so can we tame some of these?
YES!
Our hormones are a beautiful thing but during perimenopause, the level of estrogen in your body rises and falls unevenly during perimenopause.
By limiting saturated fats, highly refined carbs, sugar, caffeine and alcohol, we can improve those symptoms.
Foods rich in calcium and vitamin D like dairy, green leafy vegetables, soybeans, and oily fish are good for your immune system and improve bone and muscle health.. Which is totally necessary during this period during our lives.
A whole-foods diet high in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, high-quality protein and dairy products may reduce menopause symptoms. Phytoestrogens and healthy fats, such as omega-3 fatty acids from fish, may also help to decrease night sweats and depression.
Supplements are another great tool to help us achieve a peaceful and calm perimenopause. .
